Marleen Nowakowski is a proud graduate of Leadership Macomb, Class XXV, and currently serves as the Corporate Director of Trauma Services at McLaren Healthcare. She began her nursing career in 2009, working in hospice and oncology before transitioning to critical care as an ICU and SWAT nurse. Marleen then moved into leadership as an Assistant Manager of the ICU and Cardiac Step-Down Unit, where she discovered her passion for program development and team growth.



For the past 8½ years, she has served as Trauma Program Manager at McLaren Macomb, leading initiatives that strengthen trauma systems and improve patient outcomes in the community she serves. In addition, she has dedicated the last four years to serving as Treasurer of the Michigan Trauma Coalition, a non-profit organization committed to advancing trauma care, prevention, education, research, and advocacy across the state.


Marleen is also actively involved in community and staff education, teaching de-escalation training, Stop the Bleed, and Matter of Balance courses. Her leadership and impact were recognized in 2021 when she received the Nightingale Emerging Leader Award for her outstanding work managing the ICU during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
