Junior Leadership Macomb – Preparing the Next Generation

The Junior Leadership Macomb (JLM) Program gives high school students an empowering head start on their future. This unique summer experience helps teens gain clarity, confidence, and real‑world readiness through hands‑on learning across Macomb County.

Throughout the program, students participate in:

  • Career exploration and job shadowing with local employers and professionals
  • Behind‑the‑scenes field trips across the county
  • Workshops on networking, interviewing, business etiquette, and financial literacy
  • Conversations with county leaders who share their experiences and career paths

Every day of camp is held at a different location across the community, truly immersing students in Macomb County’s industries, institutions, and cultural assets. Beyond summer, students benefit from additional opportunities such as attending a County Commissioners Meeting, participating in community service, and visiting the Detroit Institute of Arts for an Arts Night Out.

Participants emerge with direction, connections, and practical skills they’ll use long after graduation. For more information, families can contact   Julie Petkoff at 586‑488‑3819. Applications are due by May 15, 2026.
