Each Session is held from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 P.M.

Community Assets, Issues and Leaders - September 12, 2007

Provides an overview of Macomb County and exposes participants to the top issues
facing the county and the initiatives aimed at improving those issues.

Government - September 13, 2007

Information regarding the jurisdictional division between county government, local
municipalities and county agencies is presented.

Arts and Culture - October 17, 2007

The arts are an important part of every community. Their contribution to the quality of life
of residents and their importance to economic development are discussed.

Health and Human Services - November 14, 2007
Examines the challenges of providing health and human services to all sectors of the
community.

Education and Workforce Development - December 12, 2007

Issues with regards to education and workforce development are presented and the
community’s role in these processes is discussed.

Our Neighbors - January 16, 2008

Offers participants the opportunity to explore the value of our cultural differences and
review the issues presented throughout the nine month program.

Leadership - February 13, 2008

Participants will hear from and interact with Macomb County leaders. They will also gain
insight into their own leadership.

Business, Manufacturing and Technology - March 12, 2008

Explores national and regional trends in business, manufacturing and technology and
presents how those trends impact our workforce.

Justice System - April 16, 2008

Offers an overview of the criminal justice system and provides participants with an
overview of court-connected programs and alternative justice system.

Environment - May 14, 2008

The environmental issues facing the region with regards to water quality, land use and
brownfield development are presented.

Community Service Day - May 15, 2008

Participants have the opportunity to make an impact on the community in which they live
and work by taking part in a community service project.

Commencement - June 4, 2008

Commencement is an evening event that celebrates the achievement of our participants.
