Leadership Day took place on February 16th at the Best Western Sterling Inn. Plant & Moran, PLLC and Best Western Sterling Inn sponsored the day. The objectives for the day were 1) to gain a better understanding of the general principles of "crucial conversations" and being an "influencer"; 2) to learn from and network with individuals in leadership positions in Macomb County and 3) to dialogue with county leaders about how we can use "crucial conversations" and "influence" in effecting positive change in Macomb County. | ||
Kris Marshall from Winning Futures started the day informing the participants of the way Winning Futures makes a difference in the lives of young people and the ways in which they can help. |

Lori Aemisegger, Senior Trainer 7 Creative Consultant, Vital Skills International, followed by introducing the participants to "crucial conversations' and "the power of influence", skills that will help them become better leaders in their places of business. |
After lunch, Dr. Al Lorenzo, President Emeritus, Macomb Community College, Executive in Residence, Oakland University, engaged the group a lively discussion of "Lessons From Life", Personal Perspectives on Leadership. |

The afternoon session brought together a fantastic panel that included a diverse group of area leaders. Dr Al Lorenzo, facilitated the panel discussion. Panel members included Mark Hackel, Macomb County Executive, Roy Rose, President Anderson, Eckstein & Westrick, Inc. (LM Board President), Donald Torline,President, Baker College (LM Board Member), Barbara Rossmann, President & CEO, Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals, and Wayne Oehmke, President, Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The panel discussed very openly about what it takes to be an effective leader. | ||

After the discussion, the participants broke out into small groups and had table time with each of the panel members. This allowed for some dynamic dialogue. | ||
